My path to design was anything but straightforward...
I actually received my undergraduate degree in General Biology from Dominican University of California. With minors in Chemistry and Psychology, I was dead set on the pre-med student track. After all, I was always fascinated with the inner workings of the human body.
While science drew me into the health space, what made me stay was the aspect of connection. I had many opportunities to listen to patients' life experiences and subsequently pondered about the ways in which their lifestyles informed how they hoped to receive care. I quickly grew to understand the importance of meeting people where they are when creating a design - or plan - with intent for long-term success.
My work centers around being culturally conscious of the backgrounds of my clients and coworkers, as well as the landscapes I am designing for. My lived experience in healthcare, especially at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, has made me extremely passionate about tackling the medical field's care gaps through co-creation with patients, providers, and caregivers alike.
In my free time, I enjoy long walks through the grocery store, curating playlists on Spotify, finding 'hidden gem' food spots around town, spending 2+ hours at a nearby climbing gym working on some funky bouldering routes going to live music events solo, and wandering into stationary shops & bookstores.
